Questions about Data Recovery

data recovery (Wikipedia)Wikipedia defines data recovery as “a process of salvaging inaccessible data from corrupted or damaged secondary storage, removable media or files, when the data they store cannot be accessed in a normal way”. Here are some data recovery questions I’ve received over the last day or two.

RAID0 volume crash in Synology DS413j. Guessing by the logs – HDD sector reading errors – suspect hard disk degradation, one or both. The storage was nearly full. No recovery attempts yet, hard disks are still in place though volume is not accessible. It contains some business critical data that needs urgent recovery

I am hoping you will be able to help me with a hard drive recovery. Recently my internal hard drive has been making a clicking sound and is unable to be accessed, after attaching it to another computer it is recognisable but can not be intialised due to an I/O error. Is there any hope of recovering the files off of this? There are important work related documents that I am anxious to retrieve. Could you please advise if retrieval is possible and if so what price range would that be in.

Hello there, I have a Western Digital MyBookWorld NAS drive that stopped mounting after many years of service. The drive capacity is 1TB. I have extracted the drive from the enclosure and mounted it in a USB enclosure. On attempting to mount the xfs drive in Ubunto , it thinks about it and then display remote Input/output error. WD Life Dataguard Diagnostics shows multiple bad sectors. I was about to use ddrescue but I don’t have enough space storage to recover an image. I believe the issue to be with the file system that has been corrupted. Recently I had the NAS storage mounted on a raspbien build on Rasberry Pi with constant download from Usenet.

I have dropped my Apple iPhone 5s in water and it no longer works or turns on. I would like to retrieve my photos, notes, and contacts. I am located in London but also wanted to know if there is a pickup option. Could I please also get a preliminary quote.

I have 4 travan TR1 mini cartridges and need the information taken off them and put on to a CD (or memory stick). Could you please advise if you cant do this and, if so, costs?

I moved across to a new PC. I attached one of the internal drive from the old PC to the new PC. I stupidly put the drive on top of the new PC and then at some point the drive fell off while the computer was on. Now the drive won’t be recognised and makes a regular beep noise.
Any idea on what this could be and the cost of getting it repaired. I live in E14 so can come to bank or happy for it to be collected.

Hard drive has malfunctioned, was working fine and then laptop and various other computers won’t recognise the device.
Sounds like something might be loose inside the hard drive

Device is making a beeping noise and not being recognised by the computer. Had been using the device for a few hours straight so it might have over heated.

I have a HDD Baraccuda Seagate 1.5 GB, 4 years ago fell from half a meter (of a coach). Since then cannot be recognised by pcs or laptops. I do not remember if there was a clicking noise. I believe there wasn’t (if I remember well).
My priority list is 6-8 gbs of photos in a dedicated directory and 5000 gbs of family videos.
I would appreciate a quote.
