HP RAID and Server Data Recovery

Device: HP Mediasmart Server EX475
Problem: Worked fine from purchase in 2007 until it failed to boot up just over 4 years ago. Spent an age and a fortune on phone calls to HP support to talk me through the recovery process, which didn’t work. At which point they ran out of ideas and I ran out of money and will to live. I am now wondering if it’s possible to at least rescue some data, if not get the thing working again. I have all the original manuals, installation set-up and recovery discs.

I sent some RAID 5 hards drive to ‘Rapid Data Recovery’, who replaced some parts, but in the end were unable to recover any data. They sent this message:
‘…analysis of the medias platter surface revealed inconsistencies of the magnetic properties which could potentially be linked to the contact made between the head and platter surface resulting from the initial ‘head crash’. This may have been caused by one of several factors ranging from environmental impacts (e.g. a drop or bang) up to temperature expansion of certain components. Due to this preventative damage caused we were unable to initialise the heads long enough for a forensic scan to take place before further damage was caused to the replacement read/write heads.’
I read that you sometimes receive hard drives that have already been to other data recovery companies, because you have more advanced techniques. Is there a chance Data Clinic would be able to recover my data?

Here’s a picture of a hard drive with a head crash

Recovering data and files from servers like the HP EX475 needs to be completed in a careful and considered way. From previous experience the company Data Clinic are probably the best RAID data recovery experts in the UK. Just Google ‘data clinic’ and you’ll find them.

Freecom Hard Drive is Damaged

We have a damaged Freecom usb drive that looks like the connecting cable has been bent against the connection on the hard drive, this small part has broken off the hard drive circuit making computer connection impossible. The hard drive its self is ok.

I have an external hard drive with lots of photos on it which I can’t turn on to access. I think it has been dropped, and it sounds as if the hardware is trying to start but can’t. Could I get a quote for how much this might cost?

USB memory stick does not work when plugged in to port, can you recover the data on the stick?. I was wondering how much you charge for USB data recovery. The device is not being recognised by the computer. The following has been tried: device manager, computer manager, my computer. I think it is a hardware failure.
I have spare USB’s of the same type if required for parts, etc.

Hi I was recently on holiday and my iphone 7 plus and my stupid partner decided to see if he could take a pic under water the sea it was in there for literally a few minutes when he got it out it started making a clicky noise then went off and is completely dead this happend about a week and half ago and still won’t work at all my laptop won’t recognise it either I’ve been so upset as I have lost my holiday photos I took as obviously I was out and did not have time to connect to wifi for them certain pictures to be updated to iCloud is there anything you can do and if so a rough price

Prices: Data recovery is only applicable if you want the data off the storage device that has gone wrong. If you’re not bothered about the data then don’t buy a data recovery service, simply replace the hard drive or mobile phone. The cost of recovering a Freecom hard drive like the one above costs around £500 depending on the damage.

Different Fault, Different Problem

Hi i have an Android, that was water damaged, the screen is knackered and it sounded like it was fried, i soaked it in Iso-propynol 98% and left it to dry for a week. Plugged it into my computer and its registered a couple of times and sometimes not, i sent it away to a local shop and they stated it was dead, i know its not because i can hear the thing trying to work when plugged into the computer, i think the only way im going to get the data is to send to someone like yourself.

I’m having trouble with my Samsung portable M3 1TB hard drive. It is not connecting to my laptop/PC – it usually flashes a blue light when connected but is not doing this at all now.

I have a Maxtor Basics 1000GB Storage Hard Drive which has served me well. But it has failed, and I can no longer access my data, which includes all my family photographs. I can deliver it to the 68 Lombard Street office.

1 TB WD external Hard Drive my passport.
Contains 830gb of data (mostly video but also photo and documents) used on mac.
Drive suffered small impact yesterday, and now gets recognised very slowly by laptop, it Cannot be ejected normally and a force eject is required. The drive sometimes loads the files inside of it but I haven’t tried playing or transferring them from there. Although most of the time it just unresponsive or the file names appear without the actual documents within them appearing. Otherwise it sounds normal as if the disk is turning and the light on the side blinks / stays on whilst the cable is plugged into the laptop.

I have a Seagate HDD with corrupted firmware. I would like to know how much it would cost to recover the data on it, or if it is at all possible. External 3tb hard drive corrupt only had it for 2 weeks and now important data is lost.

Western Digital WD1200
WD P/N WD1200js-00MHB0.
The drive is installed as a slave unit. There is no O/S on it.
There was no sign of imminent failure. No noise or rattles etc. The drive was OK at shut down and when I booted up next day it was simply unavailable, could not be read.
The disk contains approximately 70GB of important data.

Help and Advice in Data Recovery

There now follows some of the latest enquiries from people requiring a data recovery service. Either from a NAS or single hard drive. My recommendation is to check out various data recovery blogs online (such as this one) or go to a well established data recovery firm who know what they’re doing. In the UK I’d recommend the services of Data Clinic Ltd, for both hard drive and NAS recovery.

Drive appears in NAS Navigator as in EM mode, will not accept firmware flash. Drive 1 showed as faulty last week, replaced drive, new drive would not accept RAID, Drive 2 showed critical bad sectors, now partition not found

My seagate 2tb external hard drive is not connecting and making a beeping sound.
I was wondering how much data recovery would cost?

I was wondering if I would be able to recover any possible deleted data from my USB drive. I last accessed the files on Thursday but when I went to look today I noticed that the folder I kept them in was gone. I’m not sure if ive simply accidentally deleted them or there are other issues with the drive. If you could give me a call back on the number provided it would be much appreciated.

I have a Western Digital External USB drive (its powered by USB). After two years, I plugged it in to retrieve a file, it worked just fine. However, since then its not visible in Disk Utility or Finder on my mac, or indeed any (tried 4 other) macs.

External hard drive not working. I have a hard drive of which the disk has broken. I have had it looked at before but I am wanting a second opinion. It is a WD my passport. It is full of photos that I was told could not be recovered.
