No Boot Device

Our client’s hard drive has failed (PC showed “no boot device“). Removed from PC and attached via USB caddy but drive is only recognised as “needs formatting” (obviously didn’t do this!).
He has most of his data on a backup but is missing some so would like us to try to get it recovered.

Error message: No Boot Device available

The person who replaced the damaged hard drive I our laptop said that the problem was boot looping (laptop failed to boot – no device present) and an issue with the headstack arm (clicking). Could you quote for recovering data please )1TB hard drive in a dell laptop)

My Seagate 1tb portable hard drive slid off the side of the laptop and hit the floor.
I was unable to then read the data. I took it to the local PC shop in Northamptonshire who sent it away and it came back saying mechanical problem which needs fixing before seeing if they can recover data and the total bill if able to recover would be around £600 – £700., which included a new portable hard drive. I decided not to pursue this line and tried to collect all the stored data from other sources. However I am still considerably short of achieving that and have purchased another portable drive and am ensuring that I have two copies as the originals were removed from photo memory cards to allow re-use. I tried to read the old drive before accepting it was not economical to recover and discard, this was on an old desktop pc. However it came to life and I tried to copy the files but there was insufficient memory on the desktop. I did copy one folder to a memory stick. before closing the PC and awaiting for the new drive to arrive. It arrived but now I can’t read anything. It makes the noises you describe for a dropped drive under “symptoms”. I am interested in an estimate for the ability to read and recover the data please.

We have a motion computing MC-C5 CTF-003 tablet computer.
The tablet fails to find the hard disk and therefore boot to Windows 7. We have tried recovery and repair using a Windows 7 install disk, but no drive is found. Instead we get a “No Boot Device” error message.
We need to extract the data from the hard drive, we are located in London.
The drive is:
IBM System X, 50BG SSD, SATA 1.5GB
IBM FRU: 43W7737
Part #: IBM50-01903-SP2ACU

We have an external hardrive which was connected through to our computer via our wifi network. The hardrive itself appears to have stopped working and will not register on any computer. It seems to be a mechanical failure. It is a Seagate hardrive.

Seagate external hard drive began to make a bleep noise. My computer does not recognise it. I tried Taplin computers in Hillsborough who have previously been reliable and they said it’s failed and they cannot retrieve data. The drive contains mainly photos which I would like to retrieve. It also has some confidential material which are reports which I have other copies of but need to say they are confidential. We are located in Sheffield but I can bring the hard drive to your offices if required.

Model: 1TB Seagate Backup Plus Portable Drive
Model number: SRD00F1
Hard drive is not recognized by any pc. hard drive spins however power light does not illuminate. I require full data recovery and live in Liverpool.

These are all examples of hard drive failure that is producing the “No Boot Device” error as a failure symptom. To extract the data from the hard drive it is recommended that you find an experienced data recovery company. Hard drives are complex things, don’t go attempting to retrieve the files yourself, you’ll make things 10 times worse.

Android Local Disk Boot Loops

I have a 500Gb WD passport external hard drive that has suddenly decided that it’s not going to work any more. I have been backing up files from my old laptop onto it all day and now when I insert it to my new laptop that runs off windows 10 I get either “The parameter is incorrect” error and it just says “local disk” (I) instead of “my passport” or I get a “the request failed due to a fatal device hardware error” message. The external hard drive hhas been working all day on both computers and now suddenly it’s not. Please could you help me recover my files?

data recovery seagate barracuda hddI have a Samsung M3 Slimline 1TB USB 3.0 portable hard drive, which was functioning perfectly last night. This morning I turned on the desktop it was connected to, and it seemed to get stuck on the motherboard splash screen. After plugging the hard drive into another computer and turning it on it had the same issue, but the machine booted up just fine without the drive connected. When I connect the drive once a machine is booted, the light on the drive will come on (solid), but the computer doesn’t detect anything, even as a malfunctioning drive, and when I hold my ear to the drive I can hear it beep quietly about a dozen times, then stop.
I have some of the data backed up, but not all, and I would sincerely like to try to recover what is on the drive. If possible, please contact me via email as I cannot always answer my phone due to work commitments.

laptop keyboard punched. laptop went blank. computer turns on but hard drive not found. Would you be able to look at a laptop that has had a drink spilled on it? Some of the keys have now stopped working despite tries to dry the laptop out. If so, can I bring it in at any time or do I have to book a slot? Also what would be the cost to look at it? Lost photos unable to read hard disk.

I have an Android phone stuck in a boot loop. The phone is an HTC One (i.e. M7). I had not been having any problems, and got up one day to ind the phone stuck rebooting – there was no trigger event or “incident”. The phone is quite old, and had some battery problems because of its age, but nothing worse. The phone can charge, and boots through the HTC screen and then goes blank, before resetting (maybe around a minute after powering on). I can get into the recovery screen and fastboot by holding VOL-DOWN while rebooting. I have tried various recovery or reboot options in there but none make any difference. I have NOT tried the “factory reset” option as I am much more interested in getting the data off than getting the handset working again. I also tried accessing it over ADB from my PC, but as I never tried this when the phone was working I don’t know whether the problem with that is with me or with the phone.
I wanted to ask if you could make any suggestions or give me an estimate for taking a look at the phone.
The main thing I am interested in getting back is my photos, although I am also interested in other data from the internal storage, as well as texts and data from a few apps.
